Back in 2013 at Baraboo High, I created a fictional business for a class project and named it JJ Benedetti’s, after what I believed was my grandmother’s maiden name, Jean Jenny Benedetti. Even then, the name felt meaningful and stuck with me.

Years later, I uncovered the real story: her name was actually Gina, and Jenny was a middle name she gave herself when filling out her marriage license. That discovery felt like fate and Gina Jenny’s was born, a tribute to her spirit, independence, and legacy.

Gina Jenny Benedetti was the heart of our family—sharp, sassy, and always in charge. She loved a full house, good conversation, and the joy of bringing people together.

After she passed this year, just shy of 99, I felt called to carry her legacy forward. Gina Jenny’s isn’t just a bar it’s a warm, welcoming space that honors her memory with every pour and every gathering.
